摘要
多媒体Ｘ终端是以多媒体化的ＸＷｉｎｄｏｗ系统为界面的网络终端．多媒体Ｘ客户程序可以在网络主机（高性能工作站）上运行，而在该终端上输出各种媒体，其性能可与直接使用主机相媲美．基于多媒体Ｘ终端的ＣＳＣＷ体系结构充分利用了Ｘ终端的网络透明性，将需要大量通讯的用户模块集中到一台高性能的主机上，从而大大提高了多媒体协同工作系统的性能，避免了传统的协同工作系统中由于带宽的限制，无法达到很高的多媒体性能的问题．
Multimedia X terminal is a network terminal whose user interface is based on multimedia X Window. Multimedia X client applications can run in network hosts(high perfomance workstations), while output various medias on the terminals with the performance as perfect as used on the hosts. Multimedia X terminal based CSCW architecture takes advantage of network transparency of X terminal. The user modules among which a lot of communication is required are clustered in one high performance workstation, so the performance of multimedia collaborative work is greatly improved.
