The satellite signal simulator, as a high-precise standard signal source, can generate satellite navigation signals and simulate different scenarios for the development and test of the signal receivers. It is an indispensable tool for the design of the receivers. The development of satellite signal simulators had been summarized firstly. Then, the research and its applications in the field are concluded. At the end, the trend of the simulators is provided according to the development of the new GNSS constellations, the newly applied signals and the new applications.
