From the late 19th to the middle of the 20th, there had been three literature waves. The first literature wave happened from the late 19th to the early 20th, characterized by the money theme, and presented to us a picture of growing city; the second happened in 1910s and 1920s, characterized by the exposure of a city's frightfulness and Literature in Chicago was becoming mature; the third happened in 1930s and 1940s, Chicago Writing moved from emporia to margin, from commerce Titan to marginal people. The attitude of author to Chicago became disappointed and despaired.
