East Baiyutan Residential District is located in Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province. It occupies an area of 17 6 hectares and a construction area of 182700 square meters. Of this, there are 146900 square meters for residence, 35700 square meters for public buildings. The volumetric rate is 1 038, greening space rate 38% and the parking rate 30%. Huzhou is a rich and beautiful prefecture south of the Yangtse River abounding in rivers and cultural relics. The traditional residences here have white walls, black tiles, with small bridges over flowing streams. We therefore used new structural relationships and planning techniques that meet life in the 21st century, which is good for the continuation of the local context, the preservation of traditional outlooks and adaptation to modern life and management model. In the specific design we make full use of the existing river in the southwest of the residential district. On the banks of the river are planned a leisurely pedestrian district, a square and a central greening space. Across the river are a pedestrian bridge and a bridge for motor vehicles. Overshadowed by green trees, dotted with pavilions and terraces, the pedestrian district is a long corridor of landscape typical of the south. New attempts have been made for the structural design of the district as well. In view of the insufficiency of the structural system of “district courtyard”. With about 150 households per courtyard, each courtyard had a house for administration at the entrance. In monoblock residential design, all the ground floors of the residences are for storage. The form and color are made concise, bright, uniform and typical of the region. The built work has been commended.
