This paper gives a simple explanation of physical process for line-charging current switching and presents the synthetic test principle and the method using a short-circuit generator-transformer circuit. The advantages and disadvantages of some testing circuits are evaluated as well. It is shown that the synthetic test for high value line-charging current switching can be made by low power generator-transformer in high power laboratories.
