摘要
自进入新世纪以来,教育部启动了我国新一轮英语教学改革,陆续出台了大中小学英语课程教学要求或教学大纲。按理说,这是一个绝佳的机会,可以借机合理规划各个学段的英语教学,实现我们一直追求的大中小英语教学一条龙,但情况并不理想。面对新制定的高中课程标准的大幅度提高,和大刀阔斧的中小学英语教学改革,制订在后的《大学英语教学基本要求(试行)》并没有审时度势,调整自己的教学方向和要求,而是坚守基础英语教学,这在一定程度上造成了大学英语教学内容的重复。制约大学英语教学由基础英语向专业英语教学逐渐转移的因素是多方面的,其中包括听力培养的首要地位、英语考试热、大学英语基础论、素质教育指导思想、大学英语教师知识结构以及利益驱动等六个方面。为了实行有效转移,在有条件的大学有必要压缩大学英语学分,取消综合英语作为必修课程,开设学科英语和全英语课程等。
In the beginning of the 21st century,the Ministry of Education launched a new reform of English teaching by issuing a series of curriculum requirements for primary schools,high schools and colleges.This creates a good opportunity for college English teaching(CET) to readjust its focus to avoid overlapping high school English teaching.Nevertheless,it seems that the former turns a blind eye to the great change in the latter's curriculum requirements.Many factors lead to the failure of CET to shift its focus from general English to academic English,such as the priority given to the training of listening ability,the emphasis placed on the teaching of humanistic qualities,the popularity of various English tests,especially CET tests,the current structure of CET faculty and the attitude of the beneficiaries from the status quo.Suggestions to improve the situation include the abolition of College English as a compulsory course,the offering of academic English and content courses in English medium instruction,the establishment of language learning centers with multiple functions and so on.
