According to the special requirements of the synchroscan streak camera, a new type of subpicosecond synchroscan streak image tube has been designed and tested. Our design aimed at improving the temporal resolution up to subpicosecond and reducing the Rf power of the streak circuit. To do so, on one hand, we have optimized the design of electron optical system and manufacture of the photocathode, on another hand, we have refined the desing of its deflector. The spatial resolution of this tube is 50lp/mm at the photocathode and its magnification is -2. In order to reduce the Rf power of the streak circuit, the sensitivity of deflection and the Q have reached 10cm / kv and greater than 100 respectively by improvement of the structure and material of the deflection system. The dynamic testing has showed that the temoral resolution of 2ps has been obtained in real time when the Rf power of the streak circuit was 3W and that of l.3ps and 1.1ps have been obtained in real time and ih the case of exposure time of 1ms respectively when the Rf power was 9W.
