The electrical and optical properties of thin film electroluminescence (TFEL)displays are described.A simple Zener model for TFEL devices is used to discuss the factors influencing luminance and efficiency,from which it is concluded that the layered-optimization structure has the most advantages,and a thick dielectric electroluminescence device can improve the crystallinity of phosphor.The basic mechanism of TFEL devices is described.The development and prospects of multi color and full color electroluminescence flat panel displays are reviewed.
