摘要
阐述一种基于ＡＴＭ交换转发ＩＰ分组的新方法，描述了ＩＰ交换路由器及其相关协议ＧＳＭＰ和ＩＦＭＰ．该技术融合了ＩＰ的简单、可扩展和顽健等特点与ＡＴＭ的高速、宽带、支持ＱｏＳ、多媒体业务等优点，可提高因特网的传输速率及吞吐量．
This paper proposes a new technology with which IP traffic can be switched by the ATM hardware rather than forwarded by the IP software. The IP switching router and its protocols are described. The approach combines the simplicity, scalability, and robustness of IP with the speed, capacity, QoS and multimedia traffic capabilities of ATM.
