Objective To approach the relationship between VEGF-C and D2-40 expressions in colon carcinoma and their association with clinicopathologic features. Methods The expressions of VEGF-C and D2-40 in 85 samples of colon cancer tissues were analyzed with immunohistochemistry. Results Of the 85 specimens, the positive expression of VEGF-C(54.1%) and Lymphatic vessel density(LMVD) were signifieantly higher than those in normal colonic tissues(P〈0.05),and were correlated to lymph node metastasis and Duke's stage(P〈0.05) and non-correlated to age, sex, tumour size and the depth of invasion. While the expression of VEGF-C was positively correlated to the LMVD of the tumor(r=0.543,P〈0.05).Conclusion The overexpresion of VEGF-C may be involved in generative of lympgatic vessel, nodal metastasis and prognosis.VEGF-C and D2-40 could serve as the joint detection of early clinical evaluation of lymphatic cancer metastasis as an important indicator and had important significance for the prognostic evaluation and treatment.
