摘要
为满足汕头大学校园网通信量日益增长的要求，大大提高干线传输速率，并保护校园网上现有已安装的设备，我们引进了IBM公司的ATM设备及MSS服务器和相关设备，将校园网主干提升为基于ATM技术的高速网络系统．它具有多个仿真局域网，既提高了干线传输速率，又简化了管理．
In order to meet the needs for increasing the conununication traffic, raising the transmission rate and protecting the existing devices of the network, the backbone of campus network in Shantou University has been improved so as to be an express system with ATM techniques by introducing IBM's ATM equipment, MSS, etc. So the campus network is divided into several Emulated LAN, leading to the rise of the transmission rate and simple management.
