The Talara oil area in Peru is an old oil area with an exploration & development history of over 120 years. There are 3321 exploration wells. the development density is 24 well/km^2. At present, this oil area comes to the late stage of production decline. In the past. besides the 1: 100, 000 gravimetric reconnaissance, the 1: 50, 000 detailed gravity survey was also done in some areas, but the whole area is the seismic gap. The effort for stabilizing producting through adding wells was failure. Therefore, the 3-D seismics were proposed. In 1995, the Petroleum Geophysic Exploration Company undertook the all engineering from 3-D scismic collection, treatment and interpretation. Based on the 3-D seismic cata, the whole geological setting, reservoir distribution of this area 1s clarified, the lateral change of formations and reservoirs among wells are known. The favorable fault blocks and other structural types are found, so the drilling success ratio is raised through the adjustment of development deployment.
