Lloyd's Registers first office in Asia opened in Shanghai in 1869 when Joseph J Tucker was appointed to Shanghai.By the 1930s,Lloyd's Register had established additional permanent offices in Dalian (Darien),Hong Kong,Tianjin (Tientsin),Hangzhou (Hankow),Xiamen (Amoy),Nanjing (Nanking),Zhenjiang (Chinkiang),Wusong (Woosung) and Qingdao (Tsingtao).After the Second World War,Lloyd's Register returned to China in 1980,opening up a regional presence in Hong Kong,followed by permanent offices in Shanghai,Guangzhou and Dalian which have since become our area centres.
