For Tibet, the ＂roof of the world,＂ 2009 was an unusual year. It is the first year following the March 14, 2008 Riots in Lhasa that stunned China and the rest of the world. It is a year when the world financial crisis wrecked havoc and a serious draught hit Tibet following a rare snowstorm that hit southern Tibet and an earthquake measuring 6.6 degrees on the Richter scale that hit the Dangxiong area in the region.
