以"一张一弛"和"否极泰来"两个词语为例,讨论英语词汇的语义转换问题。
Transfer of meanings is frequently found in the English language as well as in Chinese. This paper discusses a couple of types of the transferred meanings of some daily-used English words. Especially the remarkable shifting from the deno- tation of ＂fastened/bound＂ to a connotation of ＂loose/unbound＂, and the contrasted derogatory and commendatory meanings.
