摘要
"中国"、"天下"、"中原王朝"、"中央王朝"等概念及相互之间的关系,是了解和研究中国古代疆域问题必须首先搞清楚的问题。这些概念有着本质上的差异。作为近代国家意义上的"中国",其疆域的最终奠定,是一个渐进的过程,也是"天下"成为"国家"的过程。清中期以前的历代"中原王朝"及至晚清的"中国",与近代意义上作为民族(国民)国家的"中国"之间,是一个从法理上前后相继的发展过程,前二者之间是存在差异的,在各自的"版图"上没有重合过,在经过了长时段演进后,于19世纪20年代最终完成这一重合过程。因此,在研究古代中国疆域问题时,应谨慎使用"中国"一词,更不能以"中原王朝"随意代替"中国",也不能将"历代中原王朝"置换成"历代中国"。
The concepts like ＂China＂, ＂the world＂, ＂The Kingdom of the Central Plains＂ and ＂The Central Kingdom＂ and their relations are the key to the solutions of the territorial problems of ancient China because these concepts are basically different. ＂China＂ as a country in the true sense of the term and its definite territory reveal a gradual process, that is, a process from ＂the world＂ to ＂a country＂. ＂The Kingdom of the Central Plains＂ before the middle of the Qing dynasty and ＂China＂ in the late Qing dynasty and ＂China＂ as a national country in the sense of early modern times also reveal a development process in the jurisprudential perspective. The former two were different and did not have the same territory until the 1920s. Thus, the study of the problems concerning the territory of ancient China requires our cautious use of the term ＂China＂ because ＂The Kingdom of the Central Plains＂ is not equal to ＂China＂ and ＂All the Kingdoms of the Central Plains＂ is not the eauivalent for ＂China in all Dynasties＂.
