The sup-prime mortgage crisis is changing the structure of U.S. banking with unprecedented strength. U.S. banking is experieneing a new reorganization, and the industry concentration will be further promoted in the future. With the revival of traditional banking model, shadow banks will continue to shrink, leverage ratio will be further decreased, and the status quo of blindly expanding off-balance-sheet business and pro-cyclical operating pattern will change. Universal banks, represented by financial holding companies, will continue to be the main form of large U.S. banks, and those banks will switch from pursuing scope economy to refocusing strategy through divestiture. The global financial crisis c, reates a chance for the reform of financial supervision, and financial regulators will implement more eomprehensive and stricter supervision on the banking from the perspectives of capital management, information disclosure, liquidity management, and so on.
