经典名著的电影改编一直是个备受争议的话题。小说借助文字细致入微地描绘作家想象中的世界,而电影作为一种影像艺术,却要更多地依赖于形象化、视觉化的镜头语言去传递和表达作者的审美主旨。所以,影像语言的艺术表达力是衡量电影改编成功与否的一个重要标尺。本文以美国著名女作家伊迪斯.沃顿荣获普利策奖的作品《纯真年代》的电影改编为例,从影像叙事的基本理论出发,探讨这部电影在视觉风格上的审美特性,而这些视觉形象又如何深化了小说文本的主题。
The filmic adaptation of classical literary works has always been a controversial issue. Literature depends upon words to depict the imaginary world while films depend largely on visual images to convey the creator’s ideas. Thus, the capacity for artistic expression becomes a crucial criterion in evaluating a particular adaptation. This article uses the adaptation of Age of Innocence as a case study and examines how the visual style of this film helps to deepen the theme of the novel.
