This paper outlines the basic problems to be considered in the designing of a voice band MODEM, introduces a MODEM designed via the general purpose DSP,discusses corresponding algorithm schemes and program samples for MODEM control and digital modulation and demodulation,designs a simple but practical handshaking protocol,and finally analyses the characteristics of this MODEM and its application prospects.
