Amino 3 methylphenylazo) benzenesulfonic acid has been synthesized. It is shown that with the increase in reaction temperature and NaOH concentration the cleavage of —CH 2SO 3Na becomes faster. When the coupling reaction is processed at pH=7 ̄7 5 and the cleavage reaction is processed under the condition of reaction temperature of 90 ℃ and NaOH concentration of 100 g/L, the product yield is about 84 3%.
