An Overview of the Eighteenth-century English Philanthropy

摘要 18世纪是英国慈善史研究中一个重要阶段,为深入研究这一时期的英国慈善事业,有必要对过往有关研究成果进行梳理总结。尽管相对来说,有关18世纪英国慈善事业的研究成果并不是很多,但仍可以从中辨识出两种不同的研究视角(施者的角度和受者的角度)以及比较研究、地方研究等研究方法。在其他学科理论影响下,18世纪英国慈善事业领域实际上还有很大的研究空间。 The eighteenth century is an important phrase in the research of the history of English philanthropy. To further research in this field, it is necessary to summarize the progress and achievements of past scholarship. Historical research of the 18th century English philanthropy is relatively slight and neglected after David Owen and W. K. Jordan, yet if examined carefully, we can still detect two different perspectives for research in this field, the giver and the receiver, and methodologies, and like comparison, local research, etc. are clearly discernible. Under the influence of theories of other subjects, there remains a great potential for research in this area.
