Nuo culture is one of the most popular traditions in southeastern China. Forms of presentation of Nuo culture include Nuo dance, Nuo sacrifice and Nuo opera. During the early Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), imperial troops from inland China continued to be dispatched to southwestern China for permanent habitation, with an aim to keep stability of the empire’s frontier areas.
