摘要
城市植被是指城市里覆盖着的生活植物，它具有完全不同于自然植被的性质、特点、以及生境条件，属人工植被类群．研究城市植被的种类组成、结构、类型、动态和功能、以及城市植被与城市环境间的相互关系的科学，应称为城市植被学或城市植物群落学．它是植被学或植物群落学的分支学科，一个新的学科。
Urban vegetation is the live plant cover in the urban environment. It includes the forest, bush jungle, grassland, orchard, hedge, flower terrace, farmland etc. in parks, campus, streets, gardens, public squares, monastries, field and fallowland. Although those have a smallscale natural vegetation which are remains or conserved,yet undoubtedly are influenced by human. So that,urban vegetation is a kind of artificial vegetation. Following the process of urbanization, the habitat of urban vegetation was specialization.Under the human planning and management, urban vegetation is turned into the land with parks and woods day after day. The succession of urban vegetation is a plagio-succession or retrogressive succession, so urban vegetation is a plagioclimax or disclimax. The function of urban vegetation is multiple, but the main efficiency is changing and regulating the urban environment for improving the human living and working condition.But to develop the function of urban vegetation, the conservation and maintance by human are necessary.The study about floristic, structure, type, ecology, dynamic, function etc. of urban vegetation and the relationship with the urban environment is termed urban vegetology or urban phytocoenology. It is a branch science of vegetology or phytocoenology, a new science. Like that “urban biology”,“urban zoology”etc. also is a new science separately. Those will contribute to the urban construction and urban sustainable development.
