To investigate the effects of different mode training on growing bone, 24 female SD rats (5 weeks old ) were randomly assigned to a prolonged running (PR, n=8), an intermittent running (IR, n=8) and a control group (Con, n=8 ) respectively. During the 9 weeks training session, the run rats were trained at prolonged running, intermittent running on treadmill respectively. The result indicated that both of the running can significantly increase plasma ALP, IGF- I and hepatic IGF- I , further more, the intermittent running can also significantly increase plasma GH and E2, and the plasma GH and E2 levels of the intermittent running rats are all significantly higher than those of the prolonged running rats. The data suggested that both of the running can stimulate the rats' bone growth, and the effect of intermittent running on plasma hormones correlative to bone metabolism is stronger than that of prolonged running.
