The evolution of external hot metal desulphurization has been driven by the ever-increasing consumer＇s demand for higher quality steels. From the relatively simple practice of mechanical stirring to the more sophisticated techniques of lance injection, steelmakers have been in constant search for the perfect balance between manufacturing costs and operational efficiency. Co-injection of magnesium and lime is a proven successful method of desulphurizing hot metal that offers steel producers a reliable, repeatable and economical means of meeting their production requirements.
