摘要
QOS参数定义是实现QOS控制的基础,但是ISO和ITU等组织定义的QOS参数之间存有不一致和不兼容的情况,直接影响QOS控制的有效实施.文中为此针对多媒体实时应用的特征,首次提出并定义运输层最小QOS参数集,指明了由OSI和ITU所定义的有关QOS参数均能用运输层最小QOS参数集中的参数或参数组合加以表示,该集合具有开放性和可管理性。
Here presented is a great discovery in the area of performance evaluation of high speed network since 1990,i.e., the real traffic has self similarity. The consequence of the discovery is that the conventional Markov models are not applicable to network traffic modeling. New models and tools have to be developed. First given is a mathematical definition of self similarity,and then followed is a discussion of the properties of self similarity. The relationship of heavy tail distribution and self similarity is also discussed. Also introduced are several methods of generating self similar traffic data and two famous results of queueing analysis based on self similar traffic.Finally, some of the work under development is mentioned.
