摘要
沉积相研究是近年来十分活跃的领域，其理论和方法对地球科学的许多方面具有重要影响．本文讨论了沉积相研究的基本思想、主要领域及其最新进展，并对沉积相研究中存在的困难和一些基本理论问题提出作者的观点．
This paper gives a general review of the sedimentary facies research, including basic concepts, major studying areas and some important progress in the last years. The author also discusses some theoritical issues in this field such as the relationship between microscopic analysis and macroscopic induction, time scale, reconstruction of paleogeography and regularity of historical events.
