试论地理信息系统与地球系统科学的关系 被引量:4

ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN GEO-INFORMATIONAL SYETEM AND EARTH SYSTEM SCIENCE

摘要 本文对地球系统科学的概念及其发展和学科特点进行了阐述,在此基础上探讨了地理信息系统在地球系统科学中的地位与影响,并对其发展方向进行初步评述。 Earth system is an aggregate of all physical,chemical,biological processes which is amutual acting of atmosphere, hydrosphere,lithosphere and biosphere. It is made of landsystem, marine system and atmospheric system. Earth system science was first put for-ward in 1986, it was developed out of studies on global climate system. There are twoconditions under which earth system science could be put forward: (1)the mature tradi-tional science; (2)need of study on global change.At present, global change is the starting point for a study of earth system science,global change and regional sustainable development are the core of earth system science.Earth system science had become the focus of discussion in geo-science field. Because theearth is a complicated and gigantic system, every measure should be taken to get informa-tion and control human-earth system. The level of earth observation in informational timeshas reached the level of stereoscopic, multi-dimensional and dynamic observation. Andglobal synchronous observation can be done . Quantity of data and their category are great, we should standardize and classify these data to guarantee data's compatibility and share, to promote the study on global change. Geo-informational system is a good tool that canresolve the above-mentioned problems. Earth system science should use the tool of thetimes.Geo-informational system is a kind of spatial informational science,it has function ofspatial analysis and model analysis. It is a computer system which collect,memory,anal-yses and display geographical information,and it is a general technology which can han-dles and analyses a great of geographical data. At present, GIS has been used in manyfields, it has been an indispensable modern means. Because of its strong functions, it isan important pillar of earth system science. It plays important roles in study on earth sys-tem science: (1)imitating natural process; (2)studying human-earth relationship ; (3) fore-casting future change-process.
