A series of methacrylate monomers, such as 2,2,3,3-tetrafluoropropyl, acetoxyethyl, propionyloxyethy1,buthyloxyethyl,isobuthyloxyethyl,tertpentanoxythy1 and (2-glycidy1-ether) ethy1 methacrylate, were synthesized. Their homopolymers and copolymers with high molecular weight were obtained by radical polymerization. By measuring with light scattering and viscosity, the MarkHouwink equations of those homopolymers were determined. The group contribution method was used to calculate the values of index of refraction, dn/dc and parameters of MarkHouwink equations of those homopolymers based on cohesive energy, molar volume and molar attraction constant.
