Juvenile Amur sturgeon Acipenser schrenckii weighing 35 - 36 g was stocked into tanks of each 60 cm ×50 cm ×50 cm at 20 individuals per tank and fed the diets (42.18% of crude protein, and 12.20% crude fat) containing 0(control group), 1% (group A), 2% (group B), 3% (group C), 4% (group D), 5% (group E), 6% (group F), 8% (group G) ,or 10% (group H) clove leaves for 56 days to evaluate the influence of clove leaves on growth performance and immunity in Amur sturgeon at water temperature of 21 -23 ℃. The results showed that there were no significant differences in weight gain rate, specific growth rate and feed conversion ratio between the control group, and group A and group B ( P 〉 0.05 ). There were significantly (P 〈 0.05 ) or very significantly ( P 〈0.01 )lower plasma protein and globulin levels in groups A, B, D, E, G, and H than those in the control group. The fish had significantly lower( P 〈 0.05 ) plasma protein level and significantly higher ( P 〉 0.05 ) glutamate - pyruvate transaminase (GPT) in group H than the fish in the control group did. No significant difference (P 〉 0. 05) in glutamate -oxaloaeetate transaminase (GOT) was found in all groups. There were significantly lower C3, and C4 levels in all groups but groups C and F ( P 〈 0.05 ), indicating that dietary supplementation of clove leaf would to some extent inhibit the growth and immunity in Amur sturgeon.
