Drug-induced immune-mediated hepatic injury is a relatively rare but potentially severe form of liver injury that arises in an idiosyncratic manner. Some patients with drug-induced liver injury (DILI) have clinical features of autoimmune hepatitis. Reactive intermediate metabolites derived from the drug during intrahepatic metabolism appear to play a crucial role in eliciting some forms of immune-mediated DILI.
