The thermal conductivity of rocks, widely used in the hydrogeology, engineering geology, propecting and mining, prediction of ground warm water and temperature on the large scale engineerings as well as the prevention and treatment of thermal poisons,is a important para- meter of thermophysics. The acoustic velocity test is a fast and simple method to measure the thermal conductivity Ditu. The interior state of rocks can be revealed by bring a dynamic load to rocks to excite and produce the elastic waves. The paper analyses the correlation be- tween thermal conductivity and longitudinal or rotational waves of rocks and indicates that the main factors affect measurement of acoustic velocity: 1.The structure surface, may affect the spread of acoustic waves and produce errors in the calculation of thermal condutivity. 2.The adhensive material, different adhensive materials have different effects on the mea- surement of acoustic velocity and thermal conductivity. 3.The mineral size, some errors can be caused in the measurement depend on combination between particles of rocks. 4.The keeping time, the long keeping time of the rock samples with a strong weathering and low diagenetic degree will cause some measurement errors as the sample could be dewa- tered and cracked. The rock samples used in correlation analysis are relatively typical, from low-thermal con- ductivity rocks as clays and mud-stones to the high thermal conductivity rocks as marbles, dolomites and skarns. The relationship between the thermal conductivity and acoustic velocity of air-dried rocks is showed by the concerned correlation equation.
