朗费罗是美国文学史上第一个职业诗人,享有"美国牧歌之花"的美誉。其《潮水升,潮水落》向世人传达了一种悠悠的哀伤,淡淡的哀愁。此诗情调忧郁,采用了民谣体的诗歌创作方法和叠句的技巧。论文同时重点讨论了"潮水"与"行人"两个意象。
