Listening is very important in daily communication.And testing listening skills is an essential part for language testing. The selection of listening materials is a key factor in testing listening skills.The papers discusses the importance of authentic materials in testing listening skills from the perspectives of nature of listening and listening comprehension,listening skills, selecting authentic listening materials,possible formats for listening tests and expected backwash effect.
