The superhighway tunnel traffic incident is the non-repetitive and random incident that destroy the normal traffic flow and badly cause the traffic jam, which includes the traffic accident, the vehicles＇ roadside breakdown, the road maintenance or the construction and other temporary large-scale activities. This paper introduces in detail the components and main functions of the superhighway tunnel traffic incident detection system.
