The appearance of Yu Shu Ge and Ben Ming Dian in Buddhist temples and Taoist monasteries in Song Dynasty bears a close relation to the government authority. On the one hand, in order to get authoritative asylum, many Buddhist monks and Taoists offered their property to build Yu Shu Ge and Ben Ming Dian; on the other hand, since the authority (or the imperial family) showed respect for Ben Ming theory throughout Song Dynasty, Ben Ming Dian that served Buddhis* activities exclusively for the imperial family appeared in many Buddhist temples and Taoist monasteries. As a contact medium between the authority and Buddhism or Taoism, their appearance not only reflects that the political power permeated the religious realm, but also reflects the trend that monks and Taoists searched for the authoritative asylum. Moreover, it is a reflection that Buddhism and Taoism served the society at that time and fulfilled their own values.
