XRD and TG reduction analysis show that γ Fe 2O 3 with 0 to 14%Cr 2O 3 prepared by coprecipitate method consists of crystalline γ Fe 2O 3 and non crystalline Fe 2O 3. Their reduction TG curve has three reaction stages in the range of 150~450℃. Non crystalline Fe 2O 3 is reduced to non crystalline Fe 3O 4 at first stage, Crystalline γ Fe 2O 3 to crystalline Fe 3O 4 at second and non crystalline Fe 3O 4 to non crystalline FeO at third stage. About 5%Cr 2O 3 can enter the lattices of γ Fe 2O 3 to form solid solution. With the increase of Cr 2O 3 content, the relative abundance of non crystalline Fe 2O 3 and the amount of soluble Cr 2O 3 in non crystalline increase, while the crystalline size of γ Fe 2O 3 decreases.
