摘要
明代宋应星所著《天工开物》，详细记述了中国古代在工农业生产方面的科学技术成就，内容丰富，图文并茂，是公认的一部百科全书式的世界古典科技名著。该书具有重要的科学价值，历来备受中外学术界推崇，尤其是本世纪以来，被翻译成多种文本，广为流传。这里着重介绍李熙谋、李乔苹主译《天工开物》英文本之缘起和出版过程。
Tian gong kai wu was written by Song Yingxing in Ming Dynasty. It descrtibes in detail Chinese agriculture and technology in the seventeenth century. It deals with many different subjects with a lot of illustrations which help readers to understand. It is generally recognized as a classical scientific encyclopedia in the world. Because of its high scientific value, scholars pay great attention to it. From this century on, it was translated into several different languages and was spread widely. This paper gives a brief account of the story of the English translation of Tian gong kai wu by Li Ximou and LI Qianping.
