By comparing the advantages and disadvantages of the track circuit and the axle counting system, the author concludes the necessity of using axle counting system. Then the author introduces the development situation of the axle counting system at home and abroad, and the basic principles and structure of the system, and the application of redundancy technology in the axle counting system.
