Objective To observe the expression of CTGF in pathologic scars, and to investigate the relationship between which and pathologic scars. Methods The expression of CTGF was examined through HE staining and in situ hybridization histochemistry (ISHH) (20 normal skins, 20 mature scars, 20 hyperplastic scars,20 keloidscars). Then the distribution was analysised quantitatively using image analytical system. Results Compared with common skins, the expression of CTGF in hyperplastic scars, keloid and adjacent uninvolved skins of keloid was significantly increased (P〈 0.05). Which increased indefinitely in mature scars and adjacent uninvolved skins of hyperplastic scars, and there was no statistically significance compared with common skins (P〈0.05). Conclusion CTGF may play important roles in the occurrence and development of pathologic scars.
