The paper, in particular, discusses the importance of water level control in boiler drums and lists dangers, that may occur due to too high or too low a level standing. The paper argues, that control systems, with either single parameter back feed or for feed, are both unsatisfactory and explains, how the adverse effect of sham levels may be overcome by more complex control systems and the boiler water level stabilized at the set value.
