摘要
围绕汉代"乡三老"是否为官的争论聚讼纷纭,主要原因是对史料的掌握与理解上存在一些歧异,其实"乡三老"的身份有个发展变化的过程,考之史籍,西汉"乡三老"是官,但未被列入吏员行列。东汉的"乡三老"既是官,可能也被纳入吏的系统。汉代县、郡国三老的职掌及作用与乡三老不同。
Why is it difficult to make sure the status of ＂Countryside Sanlao＂ in the Hart Dynasty although there were many scholars debating on it？ It is probably among scholars who grasped the historical datum with different ways. The status of ＂Countryside Sanlao＂ in the Han Dynasty was actually experiencing a process of development and change. The ＂Countryside Sanlao＂ in the Western Han Dynasty was official in name but was not the kind of official who was called ＂Li＂ and carried an executive duty. However, the ＂Countryside Sanlao＂ in the Eastern Han Dynasty was a true ＂Li＇ as well as an official in name.
