The expression and significance of cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2) in meningiomas

摘要 目的通过检测环氧化酶-2(COX-2)在人脑膜瘤、正常脑膜组织中的表达,探讨COX-2在人脑膜瘤发生、发展过程中的作用。方法采用免疫组织化学方法检测人脑膜瘤、正常脑膜组织中COX-2的表达及其与脑膜瘤的病理分级、侵袭性、瘤周水肿等临床病理因素的关系。结果47例脑膜瘤组织中,36例有COX-2表达,阳性表达率为76.6%,正常脑膜无COX-2表达。COX-2在患者的年龄(P>0.05)、性别(P>0.05)之间的表达差异无统计学意义,而在肿瘤病理分级(P<0.01)、侵袭性(P<0.05)、瘤周水肿(P<0.05)之间的表达差异有统计学意义。结论COX-2在脑膜瘤中普遍表达,其与脑膜瘤的病理分级、侵袭性、瘤周水肿等临床病理因素密切相关,COX-2可能在人脑膜瘤的发生发展中起重要作用。 Objective To detect the expression of cyelooxygenase-2 (COX-2) in the human meningiomas and discuss the effect of COX-2 in the formation and development of meningiomas. Methods The expression of COX-2 in 47 samples of meningloma tissues and 10 samples of normal cerebral dura maters was detected by immunohistochemistry. Results Of 47 cases of meningiomas, 36 cases (76.6% ) showed positive COX-2 immunoreactivity. The common cerebral maters were immunonegative for COX-2. COX-2 expression exhibited no statistical significance in age ( P 〉 0. 05 ) and sex ( P 〉 0. 05 ), but it presented statistical significance in pathologic grades (P〈0.01), invasion (P〈0.05) and peritumoral edema (P 〈0.05). Conclusion COX-2 is overexpressed in human meningiomas. The expression of COX-2 in meningiomas correlates significantly to the tumors'clinicopathology. It may play an important role in the genesis and development of meningiomas.
