The relationship between scholarship and the practical concern is very important in history study. The origin of the academic study of civil rights movement in America rooted in the tradition of serving practice in the African Americans history. The background of the scholars and their practical concern also deeply influenced the study on civil rights movement. In that radical society, they could not avoid the impact of personal emotions and political standpoints, so the feature of emphasizing practical concern in the civil rights movement study came into being. The rising of the new generation scholars enhanced the transition from more concerns with practice to more concerns with scholarship. Most of the new historians discarded the tradition of serving practice and inherited that of pursuing scholarship in the African Americans history, and they began to pursue their own academic study in some professional way. They pursued truth and creation with scholarship standards under definite practical concerns and achieved a lot in that way.
