Purpose: To analyze the appearance and clinical significance of collateral venous pathways of superior sagittal sinus obstruction caused by parasagittal meningimas. Materials and methods: Thirty cases of complete obstruction of the superior sagittal sinus caused by parasagittal meningiomas were selected, all verified by operation and pathology. Superior sagittal sinus was divided into anterior, middle and posterior regions according to different anatomical signs. Results: Anterior, middle and posterior regions had different manifestations of collateral venous pathways. Brain digital substraction angiography played an important role in evaluating the aforementioned phenomenon before operation. Conclusion: Preoperative cerebral angiography provides important information about collateral venous pathways of completely obstructed superior sagittal sinus caused by parasagittal meningioma.
