In order to acquire the loading capacity of asperities during the cylinder liner-piston ring running-in process, the loading capacity of elastically deformed and plastically deformed asperities was researched with the load capacity equation that was derived from the asperity contact model. The equation under Gaussian distribution was analyzed theoretically, and the variety of loading capacity for plastically deformed asperities during the cylinder liner-piston ring running-in process was emphatically discussed. The results show that the plastically deformed asperities can bear the larger load at the beginning of running-in, which takes up about 70 percent to 80 percent of total loading capacity, and bear the smaller and smaller load with the proceeding of running-in, which is the dynamic change 'process. The established equation brings the theoretic supports for dynamics modeling and tribological state analysis of cylinder liner-piston ring during the running-in process.
