An Empirical Study on the Factors Influencing the Efficiency of Insurers in China

摘要根据数据包络分析(DEA)方法对我国保险公司的效率水平的评估和计量经济学模型对影响效率的关键因素的实证分析表明,公司规模、公司治理、所有权形式和人力资本是影响保险公司效率的关键因素。我国保险公司普遍存在规模经济;外(合)资产险公司的效率优于中资产险公司;中资寿险公司的效率领先于外(合)资公司,但剔除规模因素的影响之后,外(合)资寿险公司的效率比中资公司高;公司治理水平和人力资本状况均对保险公司的效率有积极影响。 In this paper we make conduct Data Envelopment Analysis(DEA) methods to value on the efficiency of property-liability insurers and life insurers respectively,and employ the econometric model to examine the key factors that influence the efficiency of insurance.The results show that company scale,corporate governance,ownership and human capital are the key factors.Economies of scale is common in insurance companies of China,and in the market of property insurance the efficiency of foreign-funded(joint-ventured) insurers are superior to Chinese-funded insurers',in the market of life insurance the Chinese-funded insurers is more efficient,but when eliminating the effects of scales,the foreign-funded is more efficiency.In addition,corporate governance and human capital both have positive effects in the efficiency of insurers.
