摘要
型式语法是Sinclair、Hunston、Francis等人在Cobuild研究项目的基础上提出来的描述英语语言的一种模式。所谓型式就是受动词、形容词或名词控制、由经常与其一起出现的一串词语组成的(包括介词、词组、及从句等)相对固定的短语。型式是语法和词汇的交汇点,也是一种意义单位,即形式与意义相互联系的意义单位。本文在介绍型式语法的由来、特点、应用等的基础上对其进行述评。
This article first surveys the history,the standpoints,and the application of the pattern grammar proposed by scholars working on the COBUILD project.Pattern grammar is characterized by the claims that pattern is the basic unit of language use,that there is no clear distinction between grammar and lexis,and that the form of the pattern is associated with the meaning,etc.The author argues that,though this grammar throws new light on the description of the English language and has important implications for language teaching,it cannot replace but only complement other existing grammars.
