鉴于几何分布的广泛应用，如何用顺序统计量来描述其特征性质是一个引人关注的问题．本文导出了几何分布的一个统计特征：若X与独立，则X服从几何分布．
In this paper, a new characterization of geometric distributions is given,' Ifthere exists a k; 2≤k≤n, such that X is independent of the event X-X=0,then X is geometric.
