历史可以从不同的视角观察,只有这样才能丰富我们对历史的了解和把握。沟口雄三强调从中国脉络看问题,这在解释辛亥革命时却遇到相当的困境。普遍王权在中国历史上占据重要地位,也主导了中国近现代历史的走向。
History can be viewed from different angles. The more angles we have, the richer understanding we will obtain-but not always so. Mizoguchi Yuzo insists on seeing Chinese problems in the light of Chinese historical development. This, however, may not apply well to the problem of the Revolution of 1911. Universal royalty has played an important role in Chinese history, and has guided the direction of her modern transformation.
